Whether it’s building your family tree from scratch, documenting the life story of an ancestor, tracking down paper records in local repositories, deciphering old handwritten documents, or lending a new perspective to brick walls in your own investigative efforts, I will use my wide-ranging research experience to effectively and comprehensively tackle your project.
As a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, I adhere to their Code of Ethics and Professional Practices, and I utilize the Genealogical Proof Standard (GPS) as defined by the Board for Certification of Genealogists.
- Family Trees: Family tree which includes basic data on your direct ancestors like birth, death, and marriage dates, occupations, and relationships, with additional details as time and budget allow. You receive a shareable digital family tree, Ahnentafel report, family tree chart graphics, and a one-on-one virtual presentation.
- Ancestor Biographies: Detailed biographical report for an ancestor from your family
- House Histories: The story of the historical residents of your home using newspapers, city directories, census, and deed records (For homes in Northern Rhode Island only)
- Record Retrieval: Retrieval of historical vital, legal, deed, and other records at RI State Archives, Providence City Archives, RI Historical Society, RI Judicial Records Center, and other repositories and libraries in Providence, Kent, and Bristol Counties in Rhode Island
- Document Transcription: Transcription of handwritten records/documents from the 17th – 20th centuries
- Public History Reports: Comprehensive research report on any facet of local public history including community organizations, social movements, businesspeople, artists, politicians, etc. (with a focus in Rhode Island)
- Research Review: Review of your own past research or genealogy brick walls to lend a new perspective
- Editorial Services: Editing of genealogical or historical writing
Fees:
All projects include a free 30-minute virtual consultation to determine your needs and discuss the scope of the project.
- $75/hour (two hour minimum)
- $50/hour for record retrieval services + associated expenses (parking, copying, etc.)
Upon the completion of each project, you will receive an invoice via email. Payment is due upon receipt by check or credit card.
